Filter Plates Candles: The filter plates, often referred to as candles due to their shape, are typically made of porous materials such as stainless steel, polypropylene, or cellulose. These plates are stacked horizontally inside the filter housing and are equipped with filter media to capture suspended solids from the liquid being filtered.

Filter Housing: The filter housing is a cylindrical vessel that contains the filter plates and provides support and structural integrity to the filter assembly. It is typically made of stainless steel and is designed to withstand the pressure generated during the filtration process.

Inlet and Outlet Connections: The filter housing features inlet and outlet connections for the introduction of the unfiltered liquid (feed) and the discharge of the filtered liquid (filtrate), respectively. The inlet connection directs the liquid to the space between the filter plates, while the outlet connection collects the filtrate from the clean side of the plates.

Filtration Process: The filtration process begins when the unfiltered liquid is introduced into the filter housing through the inlet connection. The liquid flows through the spaces between the filter plates, and suspended solids are trapped on the surface of the filter media.

Cake Formation: As the filtration process progresses, a layer of solids, known as the filter cake, builds up on the surface of the filter media. The filter cake acts as an additional filtration barrier, helping to capture finer particles and improve the efficiency of the filtration process.

Backwashing or Cake Discharge: Periodically, the filtration process may be interrupted to remove the accumulated filter cake from the surface of the filter plates. This can be achieved through backwashing, where a reverse flow of liquid or gas is used to dislodge and wash away the filter cake, or by physically removing and cleaning the filter plates.

Filtrate Collection: The filtrate, which has passed through the filter media and the spaces between the filter plates, is collected in the clean side of the filter housing. It is then discharged from the filter housing through the outlet connection for further processing or disposal.

Sparkler filters are commonly used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, food and beverage, and wastewater treatment for applications requiring the separation of fine solids from liquids. They offer advantages such as high filtration efficiency, ease of operation, and the ability to handle a wide range of liquid viscosities and particle sizes.
